on the flip side, I would be more than honored to get a fma on a line behind one of these girls in the future.

hehe. perhaps someday we'll all be posting about FMA's and if they're legit or not ;)

love it, leifc. you've got it right!

And we can add FFFSA - First Female Free Solo Ascent
and FFHMA - First Female Half-man ascent
and FFOSA - first female on sight ascent

Or wait...maybe it is more of a traverse? So then they should all end with T?

can I get cred for fw (first whipper)? I would like that. I also like the idea of traverse instead of ascent. As much as I love climbing, slacklining and climbing are not so related that they need all the same terminology. Then again it's not really a cause I'm about to fight for, and there is some merit to keeping the ascent title as an homage to the climbing lifestyle that gave birth to slacklining and highlining.

It's an interesting topic for sure, Jen. As a gal with some FFA's (but no real FA's if you discount tree lines) and someone who has always been out playing/competing with the boys, I'm torn! Part of me wants to back what Jen is advocating but the other part of me knows how AWESOME it feels to get a hard earned FFA.

Faith is right that there is a massive endurance/strength component to walking longer highlines. Of the 100' plus highlines I've walked and tried to walk, muscle fatigue was a huge component to my eventual success (and failure).

But Jen is right that we are equals or better when it comes to balance...

Massive props and respect to Faith who has upheld and pushed highlining to new standard for men and women. Obviously we can do it just as well and better!

But I just can't discredit how much more innately rad a send is when its been 22 years since the FA and no lady has yet sent...

Society divides men and women from the time we are born and I think part of the "FFA" hype is that its cultural for us to seperate our achievements.

But, like everyone else said - Fuk it, lets just go slackline!

And Jen, where are you out of? Always psyched to expand the girl highline cirlce! It would be fun to meet ya at a line one day! (I live in Yosemite - home to heaps of highlines...!!)

:)

not interested in made up terms that arent really firsts or any excuses about keeping up with boys, thanks for the messages about my first experience here, but no need to apologize for your fellow slackers, nothing got too out of hand. good luck to all.
